By TC303 Don’t let the negative reviews stop you from getting this - it’s a great app. I used the old TomTom app for iPhone for several years and loved it. Always liked having the maps on my phone so it still works even when you lose your cellular signal and this still gives you that option.

After reading all the negative reviews of this one I was disappointed that the old app was being phased out. But I finally downloaded it and have now used it for several trips including a 1500 mile cross country drive. Based on the older reviews I’m guessing they’ve made a lot of improvements as my experience with it was great.

It is now much faster and easier to enter your destination than with the old app and I like the new graphics. It seems to have pretty much all of the old features that I used. It’s very intuitive but you can download a user manual to be sure you haven’t missed anything. The only negative I found is that on two or three occasions when exiting the freeway, the verbal guide would state the name of the road I was exiting onto, but not the same name that was on the exit sign ahead. The on-screen text did correctly show the same thing as the sign, so it seems to be just the verbal guide that’s sometimes off.

The verbal guide did always give the correct exit number, so just note to look for the number and not necessarily the name it tells you. I’d rate the app five stars if it weren’t for this one flaw. Would give it a 4.9 but the option is either 4 or 5. By Lionking2017 Forget it!! With all these issues the app has, one would expect $17 is the max the developer would charge for permanent subscription. Before reading all the negative reviews, I was going to pay for the upgraded version but noticed that it would be for a limited time only.

I think the developer got greedy a little, especially given the many issues with the app. Regardless, I would never pay for any app that requires subscription. I think the subscription strategy combined with the issues in this app backfired or will backfire. After my comment, I received a reply from the developer, indicating that this app is not for me, because it is rent-based.

While this doesn’t really mean much to me, I am bewildered by the business strategy that the developer is following in promoting his product. Instead of listening to customers’ criticism of the app at issue, the answer is this app rent-based approach is not for me. I guess this explains the rating received. I like the new color scheme. It gives the same information as before.

You don't need to go through multiple screens to find an address. And the traffic monitoring can't be beat. And oh yeah, I got three free years for transferring.

Sometimes it will reroute you to save two or three minutes but traffic is just not accurate enough to know this for sure. It’s such a small difference if one lane is going faster than the others in a supposed traffic area, it can’t tell. Google maps doesn’t do this. I only think rerouting around traffic should happen if it saves you ten minutes or more.
