Hello, My Uncle purchased a Sony Bravia Smart TV in September - the manual has six models listed: KDL-48W600B, KDL-48W590B, KDL -48W580B, KDL-40W600B, KDL-40W590B, KDL -40W580B. When he purchased the TV the sales rep told him that a Logitech k400 Wireless Touch Keyboard would work with the device and subsequently sold it to him as he wanted to use the TV to surf the web and whatnot and the touchpad to use as a mouse. When I plug in the keyboard it says 'Device Not Supported' and doesn't work at all. Everything I've read also suggests that there isn't any support for wireless keyboards with this TV (which strikes me as insane) and that the only thing to do is to either use the remote control or use the TV SideView app on a smartphone or tablet - both of which he doesn't have.

I've read that perhaps a wired USB keyboard may work - but that doesn't have the touchpad option which is a big part of what we're after. Can anyone confirm or deny what may or may not work? I can't believe that it's 2014 and that companies still make things that are so poorly thought out! Having the same problem.

Just bought a KDL-50W700B. Sales rep told me that a wireless keyboard would work, I asked as I have a Logitech K400R which I use with a PC that was connected to my old TV.

After initial setup I connected the K400R to the Bravia. Only the touchpad works in web browsing. They keyboard does not respond. Just for confirmation I connected two different USB wired keyboards, both resulted in the device not recognized pop-up and neither would work. I also connected a USB wired mouse, I think Dell brand, and it was recognized and worked in the web browser.

Then I switched to a wireless USB Logitech M310 mouse which also did work with the web browser. I find it hard to believe that Sony does not support wireless keyboards! I realize that I can use a smartphone as a keyboard using the Sideview app, but I find that unacceptable to use my phone as it has a smaller screen and I do not have a tablet. Cyberlink Power Media Player Keygen Idm. Now to find a wireless USB touchpad that is recognized by the TV. That would be somewhat better than the mouse as I have to have a surface handy for the mouse, and I am not always at the sofa and coffee table.

Sony should consider a software upgrade to allow recognition of wireless keyboards at least. The K400 would be ideal as it is compact and has the touchpad. Hi kragmeister Welcome to the Sony Community! Based on the specifications of this TV, wireless and wired keyboard is not supported. However, you can use the TV Sideview app to input your text and navigate the television wirelessly using your smartphones or tablets. Please check this for further details regarding TV SideView app. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback with us here in the forum.

We will forward this information to the proper department. If my post answers your question, please mark it as ' Accept as Solution'. I'm with you Andremedo! Same bad experience on my Monolith Bravia and other Sony units, 5 in total. I have to admit that I am happy with the image/video experience, but when it comes to using the unit it certainly is not friendly.

The simple fact that there is no dedicated space button, supposed to be the most hit button, if you want to write with the remote, even though there is a space sign but it does not work, hilarious! It has never broken through in its primitive OS and apps neither. Even my Sony PS3 makes my Sony TV crash sometimes!!! Ridiculous pfff! I had a Sony mobile also, same experience, even worse actually when I recall the first days, countless Wifi problems.!

Recently i bought a mobile from another brand, it works flawlessly as expected out of the box. Even here in the forum, I reply to a specific user and there is no quoting support whereas in most forums quoting is supported for easy reading.

Sony you've got that big ego head that will lead you to loss! You've lost a faithfull customer! DaveJ, Sorry, but the 'solution' is unacceptable. If it were not for the terrific screen output and operation of online apps I would most likely return the TV. Since it has a web browser and documented capability of using a bluetooth mouse, and as I discovered, the capability of using a wireless USB mouse/trackpad it SHOULD have the capabilitiy of some sort of keyboard. Using the Sideview App on my phone is not really acceptable to me as it seems to drain the battery more quickly. Sony should produce a software update to support either a bluetooth or wireless USB keyboard.

Regards, Greg. I am a Software tester and found the following when using a Keyboard. TV Bravia KD 55X8000C (Australia) Keyboard logitech K400r The problem is not Android or the Keyboard, it is the selection of Software Apps the Sony TV uses. The Keyboard works perfectly with ES File Explorer, Kodi, X-Plore, Web Browser for Androd TV. However the Sony Launcher App which is what you see when you turn on th TV has a poor Keyboard implementation. Sony just optimized for the Remote control and pad and stripped out the rest.

The same goes for the OPRA browser, and browsing with the TV remote or pad is nearly impossible. Not a good user experience. It should be possibe to accommodate Remote control, pad, and external Keyboard since other Apps can do it. If needed I can give Sony more feedback to improove the UI experience.
